Measurement information

Corsets

Please see the instructions in the Corset Q&A section.

Women

  • Bust:
  • Waist:
  • Skirt Length:
  • Back of neck to Waist:
  • Wrist:

It is best to take your measurements for a dress while wearing the underpinnings you will have on under it.  If you are unsure of the skirt length a good rule of thumb is to measure from your waist to the floor.

Men

  • Neck:
  • Chest:
  • Waist:
  • Shoulders:
  • Arm:
  • Inseam:
  • Neck to Hem:

To take the measurements put on a tee shirt that fits well. “Shoulders” measure from seam to seam across the back of the shoulders. “Arm” measure from the shoulder seam to where you want the cuff to be. Remember that sleeves were longer then, usually coming down to the knuckles, if you want to be correct. It usually works best to take the “inseam”  pants measurements off of a pair of pants that fits well. Take the waist measurement at about the belly button line – where you bend, not where you wear your modern trousers. To take the “Neck to hem” start at the back top of the tee shirt collar and measure down to where you want to jacket hem to be. This will vary depending on the type of jacket. Let me know if you have any questions!
